I don't know how Greece...GREECE...managed to win Euro 2004. I guess I can liken them to a less-talented Devils team of the few years ago. Greece plays like a neutral-zone trap. Not very pretty soccer, but they keep winning 1-0. 80-1 at the start, and they won it. So sad. I guess it's good they win something before they fuck up the Olympics.

KU girls aren't so bad after all.

    I can't believe I just said that.

Maybe that hot-dog-eating contest wasn't such a good idea after all.

It was a 12-minute contest, I scarfed down 8 in the first 7 minutes, and pretty much did nothing the last 5 minutes. Finished with 8, which is a respectable total. The winner had 11 1/2. I could have matched that, but with 5 minutes left, I was 2 behind and he still looked like he was going strong. He faded, but at that point i was pretty full.

Now, the rest of the day yesterday I had a stomachache, and today i'm paying for it by visiting the toilet quite a bit.

    Stolen from bash...

so, at this college there was an extra credit question "Is hell endothermic or exothermic"
this is what one kid wrote:
First, we postulate that if souls exist, then they must have some mass.
If they do, then a mole of souls can also have a mass. So, at what rate are souls moving into hell and at what rate are souls leaving? I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for souls entering hell, lets look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to hell. Since, there are more than one of these religions and people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change in volume in hell. Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in hell to stay the same, the ratio of the mass of souls and volume needs to stay constant.
So, if hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter hell, then the temperature and pressure in hell will increase until all hell breaks loose (i.e.,Hell is exothermic).
Of course, if hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in hell, than the temperature and pressure will drop until hell freezes over (i.e.,Hell is endothermic).
So which is it? If we accept the postulate given by Ms.Therese Banyan during my freshman year, "That it will be a cold night in hell before I go out with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having a relationship with her, the second case cannot be true. Therefore, hell is exothermic.
the kid was the only one who got credit

Went to a Georgia HS soccer state final today, cuz I figured it'd be pretty good. The home team, Richmond Academy, was ranked #1 in the nation. They were 24-0-0, with 223 goals for, 8 against. 5 of those 8 against were on PK's. The knock on them was that they really hadn't played anyone. They're in Class III ( there's 4 classes in GA ) But I figure if you average 9 goals a game, you have to be pretty darn good.

    I was wrong.

Ok, it was a good game, but Richmond definitely doesn't deserve the #1 ranking. They weren't really any better than Hickman or Rock Bridge when I covered them, and definitely would have gotten their ass kicked by Chaminade in StL, or any of 20 teams in Chicago. I mean, our HS state champ team in Illinois had a striker who was on the U-18 national team.

This team had some good guys, but didn't play as a team. They misplayed crosses, couldn't connect on passes, couldn't build up any attack. All they did was try to play the long ball. They also tried to go up the middle, and everyone thought they could score from 35 yards out. They must have had 3 or 4 shots on net the whole game. 2 of those were from crosses that they got good headers on. You'd think they would have done that more often.

Plus the ref was incompetent. He missed so many obvious fouls, and didn't seem to know what a dangerous play was. A guy got kicked in the back of the head, and the ref didn't blow his whistle.

    WORST THING:

Game went through two OT's tied 1-1...and they called them co-champions. CO-CHAMPIONS. What the hell happened to PK's??? That was absofuckinglutely ridiculous.

Off later to a Masters meet-and-greet with John Daly at...Hooters. You really can't go wrong with that. I heard he pretty much parked his RV in their parking lot this week.

I've been advised that if I need to do any shopping anywhere, it better be done tomorrow or it should wait till after the Masters. Me, I'm gettin out of town on Thursday anyway. Headed to Vegas. It'll be interesting to see how shitty it will be to get to work the first three days of the week, battling the Masters traffic. I only live about two miles from the course.

Another NCAA Final that will suck. Okafor will make Schenster ( the big white guy from GT ) his bitch. He'll make him look like Will Perdue. It's gonna be ugly.

Jarrett Jack is a stud, but it's not enough.

Side Note...a tiki bar opened downtown here, and it's no smoking. Now, that may work in San Francisco, but not in Augusta. Ain't gonna happen. The drinks were strong. Really strong.

I think I hit a new low...I'm thinking of joining (re-joining) MENSA in order to meet girls.

This screams "pathetic" in so many ways.

Fucking LJ is a fucking piece of fucking shit.

    A) How the fuck did my last posts all of a sudden become dated TOMORROW, when I made them WEEKS ago?

    B) Using the time on someone's computer as the time of their post is BAD PROGRAMMING and a bad idea in general. It's fucking insane. Yes, LJ, i'm talking about you. This is what happens when you let 13-year-olds who think they know everything start helping with open source stuff.

I imagine their thought process as something like: 'I'm l334!! I ha><0r!! I can code piece of shit insecure software that will break! yayyy! i'm gonna go work for Microsoft now!'

Whatever. I had a post typed up that went something like "I can now say, convincingly, that fewer things than ever make me happy. It's apathy of a new level" But this set me off on a rant.

As far as weird personals, this one takes the cake:

"My nickname is Sabi. and I am 4 months pregnant. Hope that don't Scare you off...lol. I am looking for a juggalo or juggalette, Or someone into pain, bloodletting, pretty much a very FrEaKy person, I love guys with long hair, and partically fond of guys who treat me like a goddess or a queen...if you are one of these guys/girls then write me and we'll see what happens "

it barely beat out another one that started

"I'm 19 with a baby boy, looking for a man to pay our bills"

I have new respect for Sprint. My cell phone hid in the pocket of my cargos, and thus went through the washer and dryer yesterday. And the fucking thing still works.

How's that for Sprint? The damn phones get crappy reception just about everywhere, but put em through the spin cycle and they're fine once it dries out and the battery recharges.

WE'RE RANKED!! AP #23. And with Middle Tenn St. being the whipping boys next week, and KU the week after ( on *cough* national TV. how do they pick these games?? ) we could be 5-0 and top-20 in both polls. Wow.

Reason to watch Eagles games: watching them get booed heartily by the home fans.

The most aggravating thing of the day was having to listen to the color guy in the Georgia Tech-FSU game. He marred an otherwise enjoyable game with his lack of knowledge of pass interference rules.

Case in point...1st quarter, throw into the endzone...db goes up and knocks the ball away, but clearly has his other arm wrapped around the wideout's neck. Pass interference. Color guy goes off on the call, calling it stupid, that was perfectly legal. When the play-by-play guy points out "I think they called it for the arm around the neck there" ... he was answered with "that's legal". Uhh, no it's not.

Case in point #2...4th quarter...receiver tries to run a stop-and-go route down the sideline, but after he stops, when he tries to go again, he gets jammed. pass comes up about 5 yards too long. Flag. Color guy screams bloody murder while watching replays. "There's absolutely nothing wrong with that!" right. Except the part where the DB jams the receiver 15 yards downfield while the ball's in the air. Clear interference.

    There were others too.

ESPN is gonna televise a High School game this year. But not any HS Football game...De La Salle ( Ca ) v. Evangel Christian ( La ) in October. That's the preseason #1 and #2 teams in the country. For the uninitiated, De La Salle has won something like 120 games in a row. I think it should be fairly interesting. I'll watch.
